How Teachers at C M International School are Making A Difference

“Challenge and adversity are meant to help you know who you are. Storms hit your weakness, but unlock your true strength.”

–Roy T. Bennett

The challenging world we are living in today is the world full of innovations and technology. Education is an effective tool to enable not only students but the teachers as well to cope with the rapidly changing world around us.

COVID-19 has brought every nation of the world to a halt because of the unprecedented lockdowns. With the spike of the spread of virus playing up and down, there are industries today which have started to open up gradually, but the world continues to close the educational institutes to limit the spread of virus and to protect the children.

One and half years back, when the pandemic began, no one was ever prepared for online education. As it says ‘unprecedented challenges demand unprecedented and innovative approaches to deal with the crisis’. Education community soon realised the need of the digital support to the education system to continue academic activities online. Teachers once again have the opportunity to administer one to one interaction with their students in the virtual space.

C M International School teachers were no less or different than the teachers of the entire world.  They had master expertise in their subjects but at the same time little expertise with the latest technology. But their positive attitude was praiseworthy and the only hope which lead us to start the academic year 2020-21 on time. And then there was no looking back. Since the beginning of the online education till date, there is no day when teachers have ever complained of the hardships imposed by the pandemic. Their attitudes towards learning transformed the challenge into bag of opportunities at CMIS. They emerged as the real heroes who have been leading us through the crisis.

Talking of the beginning days when the world was expecting the virus would fade away in 2 or 3 months and we would be back to normal, teachers at CMIS realised that the pandemic was going to be with us for quite some time and they had to adapt to it at least for one academic year. Accordingly they started getting themselves trained for digital space. We had various training sessions not only for academics but technology related trainings were also conducted for teachers. There were few teachers who mastered digital world faster than the others. So now it was their responsibility to help their counter parts. This pandemic has triggered out the best from every individual.

Besides helping themselves the teachers have been helping students also to overcome issues with the technology.

Teachers at our school tried their best to overcome any challenge that come their way. The school took responsibility and provided every technology later infrastructure in the school premises including the devices and the internet. The same is procured by the teachers also at their homes for the smooth conduct of the classes during the strict lockdown days.

Every new day teachers are coming up with innovative ways of conducting online classes and are leaving no stone unturned when it comes to providing quality education to our students. We have come up with a weekly program where we acknowledge teachers’ achievements by sharing their best innovative ideas of teaching with the team. We call it “BEST PRACTICE OF THE WEEK”.  It motivates them and keeps their enthusiasm high. The best practice by any one teacher is shared amongst the team members. The teacher whose activity is shared gets appreciation by the authorities and the colleagues and at the same time other members of the team get to motivate themselves looking at their colleague’s work. The teachers at C M international school believe in self-motivation and motivation through others.

To keep their morals high, we keep on organising events for teachers. Every celebration which is planned for students, is planned for teachers as well. Last year we had organised Dance Competition, Football Competition, Group Discussion Sessions, and Meditation Sessions for teachers to motivate them and these activities help team building as well.

As a Principal of the school, I am very fortunate to have the best team of teachers with me. Their attitude towards work, students and school is praiseworthy and keeps on motivating me at all times.

A big hand for all the teachers for their hard work and continued support. I believe this is the time to not just deal with the current emergency, but also build foundations of resilience to face such difficult situations. No pandemic should pin us down. We must remain positive and keep our hopes alive as I believe “Nothing is predestined. The obstacles of our past can become the gateways that lead to new beginnings.”

I would conclude with a big THANK YOU to my teachers.
